Why is there overlap within the Control Objectives?

Overlap in the Control Objectives, although not occurring very often, was intentional. Some control objectives transcend domains and processes and there-fore must be repeated to ensure that they exist in each domain or process. Some control objectives are meant to be crosschecks of one another and therefore must be repeated to ensure consistent application in more than one domain or process. Thus, although perceived as overlapping, CobiT intentionally repeats some control objectives in order to ensure appropriate coverage of these IT controls.
