Getting started > Perform the work |
CobiT provides a number of tools to assist with the performance of the work in addition to the CobiT Framework and its Control Objectives and Controls, the Audit Guidelines and the Management Guidelines that include Critical Success Factors, Key Goal Indicators, Key Performance Indicators, Maturity Models and Balanced Business Scorecards. These include:
| Generic guidelines for Control | |
| IT Governance Self Assessment form | |
| Management's IT Concern's form | |
| IT Control Diagnostics forms (Prior work, Short form, Long form, Risk Assessment form, Responsible Party form, Contract/ Service Level Agreement form) |
IT management is constantly on the lookout for benchmarking and self-assessment
tools in response to the need to know what to do in an efficient manner. Starting
from CobiT's processes and high-level control objectives, the process owner
should be able to incrementally benchmark against that control objective. This
provides for three needs:
(1) a relative measure of where the organisation is
(2) a manner to efficiently decide where to go
(3) a tool for measuring progress against the goal.
The CobiT Framework defines 34 IT processes within an IT environment (see Appendix II). For each process there is one high-level control statement and between 3 and 30 detailed control objectives. The process owner should be able to determine the level of adherence to the control objectives either as a quick self-assessment or as a reference in conjunction with an independent review
